Over two million employees (union source) mobilized for the "general and generalized strike" which took place on November 9. It was organized by autonomous unions against the July 23 protocol (see our story No. 070873), against precariousness and for redistribution in favour of "workers, precarious workers and retired people". This arm-wrestling game also aimed at asking for room for "confrontational unionism" against the monopoly of the three largest confederations (Cgil, Cisl, Uil), which are blamed for getting away from workers' interests.
