The consortium of Italian investors, Cai, presented its takeover bid over Alitalia in spite of the disagreement of the five autonomous unions. Objecting to the non-compliance of the employment contracts with the protocols signed one month ago (see our dispatch No. 080730), and rejecting the consortium's recruitment criteria, Alitalia's five autonomous unions refused to sign the permanent collective agreement, adopted at the last minute by the three confederal unions (Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl, Uil Trasporti) and by the left-wing union UGL Trasporti. On the evening of October 31, many unpredictable things happened before the Compagnia aerea italiana (Cai) consortium decided to present its takeover bid over the Alitalia company. It was the last day to present the offer, but, in the evening, the Cai reconsidered its decision to withdraw the offer announced in the afternoon.
