The CGIL union has established a committee tasked with collecting signatures in support of a citizen’s initiative draft law that completely rewrites Italy’s Labor Code and that sees itself as an alternative to reforms made over recent years. Its “Charter for universal labor rights”, is the foundation stone of this draft law that is currently out to consultation by the union’s member. The draft law sets universal rights for all workers (including independent and unstable workers) ranging from fair pay to health and safety protection including freedom of expression, life-long training, and a prohibition on remote monitoring.

On 07 March the CGIL established a committee to gather signatures supporting the draft law at the court of Cassation (which is the first stage of the procedure).
