“It is really paradoxial to think
that a trade union can diddle workers when it should defend them.” This is what
the IAL Abruzzo instuctors said on a TV show on the RAI channel (editor’s note:
Italian public television) to expose the scandal the prosecution is
investigating. The institute was closed down following the piled up debts. The
prosecution is investigating a €35-43 million embezzlement committed between
2000 and 2006. This fraud was conceiled in evaluations which were “disguised”
to

The IAL (Istituto addestramento lavoratori – the CISL's training institute) shut its Abruzzo (central Italy) regional structure, which is subject to an investigation on embezzlement. This scandal might tarnish the CISL's image, accused of turning a blind eye on deviant practices. (Ref. 080583)
