On 24 March, following a summit meeting between the metals sector employers’ bodies, Federmeccanica and Assistal, and the sector’s three main union bodies, Fim-Cisl, Fiom-CGIL, and Uilm-Uil, the trade unions called a four-hour strike for 20 April. After almost seven years apart, and having already embarked upon negotiations separately, the three unions joined together because the employers’ bodies are looking to completely overhaul the national collective agreement’s (NCA) regulations that address the definition of salaries.
