KDDI Corp. — a Japanese telephone service provider — has been awarded the first J-Win “prize for diversity” for 2015, for its efforts to promote diversity and male/female equality. This prize is given to “innovative organisations which are helping women progress within the working population”. KDDI Corp. was chosen out of 59 competing companies.
In particular, KDDI won this prize thanks to the frequent organisation of round-table discussions between its top bosses and female employees. Furthermore, thanks to the “Ladies’ Initiative Program”, which allows employees with strong leadership skills to be targeted, KDDI has appointed 58 women to management positions, of the 80 participants of the programme since the 2012 fiscal year.
