The International Federation of Chemical, Energy, Mine and General Workers' Unions (ICEM) and the Building and Wood Workers' International (BWI) denounced the violation of workers' and union rights in subcontractors working for Lafarge's Korean subsidiary. (Ref. 070313)

Violation of union rights. The two international union organizations denounced, in their joint press release, the anti-union behaviours of Lafarge’s Korean subsidiary (Lafarge Halla Cement). They are condemning the latter for refusing any negotiation with the local union KCTF (Korean Chemical and Textile Workers’ Federation), as well as for pressuring subcontractors order in to dissuade them from hiring unionized workers.
