On 14 November, the coalition government approved amendments to raise the minimum wage from €620 to €700 gross per month with effect from 1 January 2024. This increase of almost 13% will affect 18% of private-sector employees, according to the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia. The wage level had already been raised from €500 to €620 on 1 January 2023, in the face of very high inflation of 18% in 2022 and more than 10% in 2023, according to OECD forecasts.
