Minority unions’ discontent with the agreement… While the main unions (Confederation of Lithuanian Unions, Solidarumas, Labor Federation) don’t deny that they will soon sign, with the government and employers’ organizations, a national agreement (see our dispatch No. 090927), protest is growing among public sector organizations (National Union of Policemen Unions, Union of Education Employees, Professional Union…), who refused to take part in the negotiations and have been showing, since last week, their will to join forces. But discontent is also affecting large unions, such as the Confederation of Lithuanian Unions, the largest union in the country with over 100,000 members, and notably its federations in the public sector: six of them called a press conference on Wednesday, October 14 to say that they would stop the Confederation from signing the national agreement as it is.
