The number of people earning the minimum wage ( 550 litas, 159 euros) or less during 2005 decreased from 20 to 17,3 % over a year. This change in the structure of wages was due to more rapid pay increases last year and a decrease in the number of part-time employees, the Statistics department announced last week. However, more than half of the employed population in Lithuania earns less than average, which was 1350 litas (391 euros) at the end of last year.
