Retirement pensions in Lithuania will be updated by an average 60 Litas (17,4 Euros) per month starting from next 1 July. Last week, Lithuania's Prime Minister Mr. Algirdas Brazauskas also announced the Government's intention to update the basic pension by 30 Litas (8,7 Euros). (Ref. 06570)
The average retirement pension in Lithuania in April was 455 litas (132 euros) per month. The minimum monthly pension was 200 litas (58 euros). The idea to increase retirement and disability pensions in Lithuania was put forward by the Cabinet on 29 May. According to the Prime Minister, the Government can make this step because “the country’s financial situation is good”.
