Amount of employees who were paid 3000-4000 litas (869-1158 euros) monthly last year increased by 49 % - there were almost 55 thousand employees earning this much. 30 thousand people in Lithuania were paid more than 5000 litas (1448 euros) per month – that is 48 percent higher number than a year ago. All together last year there were 106 thousand people, or less than 5 % of the whole working population, who were paid more than 3000 litas (869 euros) per month, or almost twice as much as official average gross monthly wage in Lithuania (1738 litas, 503 euros). There are several reasons for official payment growth: several actions launched last year in order to fight against the practice of dissimulation of part of the wages (article ref. n° 06810). Another reason – companies can’t avoid raising wages because of vast labour shortage in the country.
