On 3 June, the Luxembourg Council of State issued unfavourable opinions on bills relating to the relaxation of Sunday work rules and the extension of shop opening hours. In the view of the institution, the government's planned reform could have adverse effects on employees' work-life balance and health, and could create a competitive imbalance between small retailers and large chains.
