The tyre manufacturing giant has been certified as a "Global Living Wage Employer", attesting to its worldwide implementation of a "living wage". Since the end of 2023, the company's 130,000 employees have been paid a salary that will enable them to meet their families' basic needs, as well as to build up savings.
On 17 April, Michelin announced the worldwide deployment of a “living wage”. From the end of 2023, all the group’s employees (130,000 across 66 countries) are paid a “salary enabling each employee to meet the essential needs of their family (two parents and two children) in terms of food, housing, children’s education and health expenses… but also to build up precautionary savings and acquire consumer goods”, explains Florianne Viala, director in charge of compensation and benefits at Michelin.
