Two years after the tragic fire at the Rosamor factory (Casablanca), the National Institute of Living Conditions at Work (Institut national des conditions de vie au travail – INCVT) was officially created on May 19th under the leadership of the Labor and Industry Ministries. Ahmed Reda Chami, Minister for Industry, Trade and New Technologies, declared, “We should have created it a long time ago.” In 2008, the fire at the Rosamor mattress factory led to the death of 55 workers who were trapped in upper stories: emergency exits and windows were sealed up to prevent theft.
