In a letter addressed to the House of Representatives on 6 February, Dutch employment minister Eddy van Hijum said he wants to prohibit companies that offer accommodation to their employees from deducting rent costs at source, due to the abuses observed. Companies are currently authorised to charge up to 25% of the minimum wage for accommodation costs.
