Netherlands : discussions on “standardization” in the public sector

In debate since the end of 1980, the "normalization" of working relationships in the public office should lead to a reform standardizing employment contracts in the administration with those of the private sector. (Réf. 06470)

Its objective: that there be only one single rule for all. For the moment, the 900 000 Dutch civil servants still enjoy a “special statute” which protects them from dismissal, except in the event of reorganization in the Administration. Abvakado, their main trade union (360 000 members), affiliated to the Dutch Federation of trade unions (FNV) is finalizing a consultation of its base, which will lead on June 7th to a public position on the reform.
