After weeks of strikes, the Dutch government and social partners reached an agreement on early retirement (RVU) on 18 November. This transitional scheme, which was due to end in 2025, allows employees in “physically demanding” jobs to retire up to three years before reaching the statutory retirement age (67). The employees concerned can stop work earlier and receive, during this period, a monthly benefit paid by the employer (around €1,500 per month), which is tax-free for the employer. The...
