Jaap Uijlenbroek, director of the labour inspectorate, said explained that most illegal workers or underpaid people work in agriculture, horticulture, mail delivery, the building sector, social jobs (for incapacitated and disabled people), the fish and meat processing industries, and trash collecting and disposal. “It is useless to waste our energy for services where laws are observed, such as banking and finance”, he told the daily newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad.
