Netherlands : labour inspectorate becomes more specific

The Dutch labour inspectorate announced its intention to concentrate exclusively on sectors where there are many abuses. Are particularly concerned the non-respect of the minimum wage and the appeal to illegal labour. (Ref. 070999)

Jaap Uijlenbroek, director of the labour inspectorate, said explained that most illegal workers or underpaid people work in agriculture, horticulture, mail delivery, the building sector, social jobs (for incapacitated and disabled people), the fish and meat processing industries, and trash collecting and disposal. “It is useless to waste our energy for services where laws are observed, such as banking and finance”, he told the daily newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad.
