Chief executive officers' excessive incomes are at the heart of a debate within Parliament, and an association of small shareholders has just published the list of what it considers as the most unjustified pays. Political parties and social partners are formulating contradictory offers to reform these practices until they can enforce a "tax on greed". (Ref. 070357)
The association of small shareholders (VEB) published, on April 18, 2007, a list of the most outrageous salaries, a list in which appear chief executive officers from Heijmans (building,) Getronics (computing,) VNU (publishing,) Numico (agro alimentary,) Heineken (brewer,) UNG and ABN Amro (banks). In Parliament, a debate took place on April 11 on the measures to take against these abuses, which unions have been denouncing for several years. All left-wing parties defended the “tax against greed”
