After Dutch Labour, a former partner in the coalition government, suffered losses in the elections held seven months ago, four Dutch political parties have struck a deal to give the Netherlands a new, but fragile coalition government. The centre-right, business friendly VVD party, led by Prime Minister Mark Rutte, has joined forces with the D66, a progressive party, and two Christian parties, the relatively moderate CDA and the far more conservative Christian Union. Their 55-page agreement includes a number of changes to labour law in the country.
