When the Finance Act 2009 was voted on November 26, 2008, the Dutch Parliament decided to set new limits to managers' remuneration. Bonuses related to the companies' results on the stock exchange and paid to the managers will be limited. (Ref. 080944)
Following a proposal presented by the labor party (PVDA), from January 1, 2009 on, no company will be allowed to give bonuses related to performances of the stock market to managers earning over €500.000 a year. This decision will prevent companies such as KPN (telecommunications) to avoid the new restrictions coming into force on January 1, as part of a law on “big salaries” voted on September 9 (see our dispatch No. 080697).
