Gathered in the Economics and Social Council (SER), an organ in charge of the goverment’s social policy’s preparation, the employers’ organizations, the salaried workers unions’ and the governement couldn’t come to an agreement on the broad lines of the a reform. Through lack of a compromise, the government should be careful not to taking any initiative on the suject within the next months. The subject will be on the SER’s agenda again next fall only. Netherlands : reform on dismissal in a dead end
Being discussed for months now, a flexibility of the dismissal's laws seems to be out of reach on the short term in the Netherlands. Negociations between unions and managment, that should have ended up on a reform suggestion to be submitted to the government before summer, just foundered. (Ref. 06444)
