An agreement was negotiated on the night between April 23 and April 24 between unions and the three bus companies, Arriva, Connexxion and Veolia. Unions gained satisfaction on their main claim, that is a 3% raise in 2008 (instead of the 1.25% raise offered by employers). (Ref. 070368)
The three transportation companies also agreed to take responsibility for the disablement insurance for the 12,000 bus drivers concerned (a bonus that they wanted employers to pay for entirely). As a consequence, the go-slow strike announced for the week and followed on April 23 by 80% to 95% of the drivers has ended. The strike was followed throughout the country, except in the Limbourg region, where an agreement was reached on April 22 with the Veolia Company, which also committed to hire 15%
