Piet Hein Donner, outgoing Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, decided, on Friday, October 8th, to maintain, in 2011, the “kleinebanenregeling,” a special system for “odd jobs,” introduced this year to encourage youth employment. This system exonerates employers who hired employees under 23 with a part-time contract with wages not higher than half the minimum wage, from all social contributions, including health insurance. A decision on whether or not to maintain this system after 2011 should be made in the spring 2011, by the next government, the composition of which should be announced on September 14th.
