In October, the “metal and technical” branch, also known as light metal, and the “metal and electronics” branch (Metalektro) signed their collective agreements after several months of complicated negotiations punctuated with strikes. The two agreements aim to meet the challenge of the attractiveness of the metal industry, notably in terms of pay, for young people and to retain skilled workers. They also contain measures on employability, training and the transfer of skills. (Ref. 130687)
The metal and technical branch employs 33,000 people, notably in companies doing metal work, technical installation, repairs, weatherproofing and air conditioning. It is one of the biggest collective agreements in the Netherlands.
