New Zealand has banned retaliation against employees who disclose their salaries at work. The bill, introduced by a Labour opposition MP, was passed by Parliament before taking effect on 26 August after receiving royal assent. Employers are now prohibited from dismissing an employee, denying them opportunities for promotion, training, transfer or pay rises, or subjecting them to any prejudicial treatment on these grounds.
