Since May 19, Nordic employers have had a new professional organization, the Nordic Arctic Business Council, which gathers representatives from the key employers’ organizations in Scandinavia. Their goal is to give a louder voice to the Arctic business community, to help create a permanent network to discuss common challenges and opportunities, and maybe to counterbalance the influence of existing union organizations.
Employers’ representatives believed it was becoming urgent to gather to try and influence economic activity in the arctic area against union and environmental organizations that play an important part in the protection of the environment in a region many believe to be a deposit of natural resources.
