The Nordic Research Institute, Norut has just published a study* on gender representation and influence in the oil and gas sector, which was commissioned by the employers’ body OLF and follows up on an earlier study conducted in 2006. The study reports that the number of females in senior roles has doubled over the past ten years and allows conclusions to be drawn on the various policies empowering women that businesses in the sector have been implementing.
More women in senior roles although dependent on company size. 2015 data show that 47% of Norway’s overall labor market is female but this drops to 21% for the oil and gas sector. The report shows the labor force is slowly but surely including more women. In addition the number of women in senior roles is also increasing. Females in a(n):
- Management role have risen from 16% in 2006 to 21% in 2015,
- Upper level senior role have risen from 11% in 2006 to 24% in 2015,
