Since February 1, Novartis’ European Works Council, called Euroforum, has been ruled by a new agreement that adds to the structures’ operating rules the key novelties of the 2009/38 recast Directive. It is still subject to Article 13 (anticipation agreement) but the negotiators included the text and spirit of the new Directive in terms of information and consultation. Besides, the agreement constrains commitments to manage restructurings. (Ref. 130500)

The new agreement gives a clearer list of topics subject to information and consultation (notably the introduction and amendment of the group’s guidelines in terms of human resources, corporate social responsibility, the company’s culture and code of conduct, data protection, health and safety, subcontracting, relocating and “transnational matters” that have a major impact on employees’ interests.
