The draft law gives people born between 1949 and 1968 the possibility to retire early if they have worked until 1 January 1999 under specific conditions. They could retire five years earlier than normal. The plan would concern 775 000 people including 205 000 teachers, 85 000 metalworkers and 43 employees of the energy sector. Poland : a trade union project on early retirements
The Polish Alliance of trade unions (Ogolnopolskie Porozumienie Zwiazkow Zawodowych, OPZZ) has submitted to the Parliament a draft law on early retirement. It woulf concern around 800 000 people and cost between 800 million and 1.5 billion Zlotys (210 million to 400 million Euros) a year. (Ref. 06516)
