The Polish unions NSZZ-Solidarnosc announced a large national campaign on the theme: "low wages, barrier for Poland's development" which will start next spring. According to them, low wages have to increase much more rapidly. "According to the Institute of Work and Social Affairs, they specified, the productivity at work increased of 28.5% and real gross salaries of 7.3%". In Poland, since January 1, 2007, monthly minimum wage was set to 246 euros. Average salary revolves around 638 euros. In a year, there was an “adjustment” regarding minimum wage: there was an 8.50% increase. However, this income represents, for equal work and equal skills, 25% of the income of a European employee. “This abyss is tragic.
