Excessive sick leaves for non-professional illnesses are, from one year to the other, slightly but constantly rising in Poland. That is what the ZUS (the Polish social security) revealed in its 2006 report, which has just been published. From January to December 2006, ZUS' doctors controlled 279,000 sick people. On this total number, 27,000 employees on a sick leave were "falsely ill" and had beneficiated from fake medical certificates. (Ref. 070153)
