Poland’s Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs has decided to revise a law dating back to 9 July 2003 on the employment of temporary workers. The aim is to give such individuals a better legal standing and to fight abuses committed by temporary work agencies.
The ministry has the backing of both trade unions and employer organisations for the initiative, since user companies sometimes fall victims of abuses and management errors on the part of certain temp agencies.
A first draft was presented on 12 July of this year for consultation. After the positions of the various respondents were assessed, the government published a new version of the draft bill on 28 September. Here are the main changes brought forward:
