Poland: imbroglio around the accumulation of work and pension

The system allowing to combine, under no conditions, salaried activity and retirement pension was introduced in January 2009. Thus, it allowed about 60,000 people to improve their lives, by combining their job with a retirement pension.  However, the 2011 Finance Act, enacted on December 23rd by the President of the Republic, Bronislaw Komorowski, cancelled this system, for obscure reasons. This last text provides that, as of January 1, 2011, pensioners still working will have to choose between leaving their job to receive their retirement pension or keep working and renounce their pension. This provision should apply to all ongoing work-pension situations.
