The government’s flagship program, “Generational solidarity – action plan to increase the professional activity of people over 50”, was adopted in October 2008 (see our dispatch No. 080365). It contains a series of measures to boost the employment of seniors aged 55-64 by reintegrating them on the labor market and maintaining their employability. The Ministry of Labor presented an overall positive evaluation of the plan’s implementation. According to the Ministry’s report, 8 of the 13 indicators used to assess progress made via the actions contained in the plan improved, namely:

- Average retirement age went from 59 in 2008 to 59.3 in 2009;
