The Lower House of the Parliament adopted, last 13 July, a bill which reforms the protection of workers' rights in the event of employer insolvency. The text must now be approved by the Senate and be promulgated by the President before coming into effect. (Ref. 06739)
Transborder bankruptcies. The text transposes into national law the directive 2002/74/EC relating to the standardisation of Member States’ laws on the protection of workers in the event of employer insolvency, and revises the initial text of 1980. In accordance with the directive of 2002 which provides that when the company conducting its activity on the territory of at least two Member States is insolvent, the institution responsible for the payment of the salaries due to the workers is that
