The three bills proposing the extension of the paid maternity leave and the one that envisages to protect women after their paid leave were submitted, March 8, 2006, in first reading to the National Assembly. (Ref. 06221)
The three bills, one presented by the government and the two others by political parties, envisage the extension of the maternity leave: the governmental project proposes to increase its duration from 16 to 18 weeks, the project filed in by Law and Justice, right-wing party, proposes the progressive extension according to the number of children: this period could thus go up to 52 weeks after the third child.
