On 31 January 2018, Poland’s President presented parliament with a draft reform of the tripartite Council for national social dialogue and other social dialogue organizations. The draft reform is the result of several months of discussions between unions, employers and the government and marks a renaissance in national and regional social dialogue.

The Council for national social dialogue was established in 2015 and replaced the former tripartite Commission as Poland’s national tripartite dialogue body. Following presidential and legislative elections in 2015, the country’s new leaders sought to breathe new life into what had been for several years a situation of dysfunctional social dialogue.
