Government workers are going to work 40 hours a week instead of 35 before. The law amending working time in the public sector has come into force and will be applied at the end of September. Most services will be open one additional hour per day. However, the Constitutional Court rejected the mobility reform in the civil service. The bill went back to the National Assembly. (Ref. 130522)
Working time increase. The first measure reforming employment in the public sector is the increase in working time, from 35 up to 40 hours a week, i.e. 8 hours a day for civil servants. The measure doesn’t provide for financial compensation. It introduces equality for all government workers and brings working time closer to the rule in the private sector. Services will be open to the public one additional hour per day. This new rule will come into force on September 28.
