The new confederation represents 20 percent of the country’s GDP and 200,000 jobs. This new structure wants to “upgrade” employers’ representation in social dialogue and is competing with the Portuguese Trade and Services Confederation (CCP), saying that it is too “inactive” and turned toward retail. One of the CSP’s goals is to add flexibility to the sectors it represents.
