Italian multinational Calzedonia (lingerie) has received much criticism in Portugal. Two of its outlets in Lisbon set up their recruitment operations at street level in full view of passersby. On top of this, bags full of CVs were left open out on the sidewalk. The sector’s union is accusing the company of “violation of personal integrity and an attack on those looking for employment.” The Labor Inspectorate authorities have been called in on a case they consider to be a breach of the right to work.
Recruitment. The recruitment practices being carried out by both of the Lisbon based Calzedonia’s boutiques have been roundly and vociferously criticized. Employment candidates were clearly visible through the boutiques’ shop front windows, which are in prime shopping locations, and so are heavily frequented by passersby.
