Portugal is introducing a "digital nomad" visa to encourage remote workers to settle in the country. As such it joins some 25 countries around the world with specific legislation of this kind, most of which are in Europe. This temporary, renewable six-month visa is available to individuals earning at least four times the national minimum wage. It can be obtained from 30 October 2022.
Temporary visa. The visa, which is officially called the “residence visa for the exercise of professional activity provided remotely outside the national territory”, is subject the general conditions of temporary visas, provided for in the 2007 law on foreigners, as well as, amongst other things, the conditions for family reunification.
