Randstad: adjusting the anticipation agreement establishing a EWC to the recast directive

Adaptation.  Signed in 1996, the agreement creating a European social dialogue structure was revised in 2009, during the transposition of the new EWC directive.  Since it is an anticipation agreement, it isn’t subject to the new directive’s provisions, which means that Randstad, the temporary work company, and Uni Europa did this on a voluntary basis.  Unions were satisfied because a great deal of new European provisions was included.  Thus, the agreement contains the same definitions as the directive for transnational matters, which define the EWC’s competence, and information/consultation.  The EWC may notably be informed and consulted as regards the economic situation of the company or labor-related topics.  “The scope of information/consultation is quite typical” explained Uni Europa’s Laila Castaldo.  “We would have liked to add topics linked to new labor practices, for instance on safety or even training but we couldn’t.”
