The Romanian government envisages increasing minimum wage, on July 1, 2009, from 600 lei (150 euro) up to 1,500 - 1,600 lei (400 euro). According to the Minister, if minimum wage follows the increase of average salary, should reach 400 euro (lei 1,500) in 2012. (Ref. 090479)
Labor Minister, Marian Sarbu, recently announced that minimum wage would most likely go from lei 600 (€150) to lei 1,500-1,600 (€400) within a few years.
