Samsung’s social practices in China denounced

In December, one of Samsung’s suppliers in China was caught for the bad working conditions imposed on its employees.  It’s not the first time a subcontracting working for the south-Korean group is named and shamed.  In France, a preliminary investigation has been going on for several months on the grounds of misleading publicity as regards its social practices.

In a report published on December 5, China Labor Watch, an organization based in New York, once again denounced the working conditions imposed on workers in one of Samsung’s major suppliers in China – Samkwang Science & Technology, a unit that employs over 5,000 people. Samsung is the world smartphone leader. For the investigation, one of the association’s members went to work ‘undercover’ for 2 weeks at Samkwang’s site in the Guangdong province (south-eastern China). In the end, he reported
