The few weeks that preceded the adoption of the bill on January 21 and its transmission to the MPs on January 28 were characterized by a lot of controversy between the social partners and the Slovenian government. The current Minimum Wage Act was mainly criticized for not allowing minimum wage to be exceptionally adjusted when the assessment of the changes in the cost of living used to adjust minimum wage no longer reflects reality. Another important factor, the current level of minimum wage is substantially lower than the value of the basket of minimum living expenses.
