Further to the approval given by the European Commission, July 28th, 2006, on the plan of buyout of Sara Lee Foods Europe (SLFE) by the common firm created by Smithfield Foods and an investment company, a negotiation on the installation of a European works council will start. (Ref 06948)
Smithfield and SLFE are specialized in the production and sale of transformed products made with meat in Europe. The American company Smithfield is present in Europe via, notably, its French subsidiary Jean Caby SA. As far as it’s concerned, SLFE, the European branch of the American company Sara Lee Corporation, includes Aoste, Justin Bridou, Cochonou, Marcassou, Nobre and Meester Stegeman.
