The Spanish labour market is the most rigid in the European Union, according to a joint study of the Adecco group and the Business School IESE, located in Barcelona. (Ref. 061277)
The authors of the report point out the legal constraints for recruiting and the cost of dismissals as the factors which induce the most rigidity. They estimate that if job contracts were eased, the rate of job precariousness would drop from 34.6% to 28% and that unemployment would drop to 7.5%.
