Spain’s government and the social partners have signed an agreement extending the arrangements for extraordinary temporary employment regulations (ERTE- Expediente de Regulación Temporal de Empleo) until the end of the summer. They allow for the use of short-time working measures and the exemption of social security contributions in order to help companies cope with their Covid-19 linked shrinkage in business.
The agreement reached between the Ministries of Labor and Social Security, the CEOE and Cepyme employers’ organizations, and the CCOO and UGT trade unions will run for four months from 01 June to 30 September and renews the support measures in force since the beginning of the health crisis to ensure public protection and avoid employment destruction (c.f. article No. 12335).
